Youth Report February 2012

It was awesome!
The PSC Tigers had their inaugural competition during the weekend of January14th & 15th, and they proved they were an up and coming force to be reckoned with.

After practicing together only twice as a team, the Tigers took home the lion¹s share of awards. Shooting in the 5-Star competition in Apple Valley on the 14th, David Cohen won 1st place Junior, Jason David won 2nd place Pro and Anna Weilbacher won 3rd place Pro. Of course, that was just practice for what was to come.
After the awards were handed out, the team headed to Las Vegas for the first SCTP shoot of the year, the Las Vegas Invitational.
For the first time, the Tigers would be competing as an SCTP team, and shooting against previous teammates in the process. The pressure was onand the tension in the air was so think it could be cut with a knife, as the Tigers took the field against former teammates, Oak Tree Junior Claybreakers.
When the smoke cleared, and all 13 squads gathered to hear the results of a long day of shooting, the Tigers were crowned second place Varsity team — finishing just behind Oak Tree.
The High Lady award was even more tense, with a tie between Tiger Lauren Vowell and Claybreaker Brandi Napoli, each with a 91.
Brandi, pacing the scoring tent, seemed apprehensive pondering the idea of a shoot-off against Lauren, until it was announced that ties would be settled by length-of-run. That gave 1st place to Napoli, whose run was 1 target better than Vowell’s.
Total Tiger trophies included, David Cohen, Lauren Vowell and Lindsey David for 2nd place team
award. Stephanie Gutierrez took home the 1st place Intermediate Advanced trophy for the Tigers, with second going to Oak Tree.
As the sun set on a remarkable week-end of competition, the fledgling team had traveled six hundred miles and brought home six trophies from two states in two days. They also left sev-eral other scholastic teams realizing, they had a Tiger by the tail and fu-ture shoots were going to be tough!
Congratulations to all the Tigers. Great job

Practice is on the 1st, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday of every month, with additional practice called for as needed in preparation for tournament competition.
